ONE LITTLE WORD. . . THE POWERFUL NAME OF JESUS

MightyFortressAnd though this world, with devils filled,

Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God has willed
His truth to triumph through us.
The prince of darkness grim,
We tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure,
For lo! his doom is sure;
One little word shall fell him.

Aren’t these words powerful? We sang them this morning at our Family Devotions. They are from Martin Luther’s famous hymn, “A Mighty Fortress is our God.” May they encourage you today. You may like to sing them with your family too.

MOTHER IS QUEEN

MotherQueen2Home based upon Christian marriage is so evidently an institution of God, that a man must become profane before he can deny it . . . Of this realm woman is queen. It takes its cue and its hue from her. If she is in the best sense womanly--if she is true and tender, loving and heroic, patient and self-devoted--she consciously or unconsciously organizes and puts in operation a set of influences that do more to mould the destiny of the nation than any man, uncrowned by power or eloquence, can possibly effect.

LOOK UP!

LookUp2How can I do it? I have too much to do,

I’m overwhelmed and feeling real blue,
I’m stuck in this house like super glue.
Don’t look around – LOOK UP!

The dishes and laundry are piled up high,
When I look ‘round the house I have to sigh,
And for supper my husband’s expecting a pie!
Don’t look around – LOOK UP!

We can’t pay the mortgage; bills overdue,
I’m tired and have headaches, not a few,
These children are driving me crazy too!
Don’t look around – LOOK UP!

My husband comes home late; he doesn’t care,
He doesn’t help with the children; it’s not fair!
I don’t want to smile; I just want to glare!
Don’t look around – LOOK UP!

Take your eyes off your problems, look up to Him,
God’s presence is with you, even in the din!
Confess your bad mood and He’ll cleanse your sin.
He is your God – LOOK UP!

He will show you how to order your place,
He will give you direction as you seek His face,
He wants to pour upon you His anointing of grace.
He is your God – LOOK UP!

Keep your eyes fixed on Him; He is your Stay,
He is your Wisdom for problems each day,
He will bring His presence right into your fray.
He is your God – LOOK UP!

Each morning He comes as the refreshing Dew
To revive your body, and your spirit too,
He is your Deliverer and He’ll make you new,
He is your God – LOOK UP!

WHERE ARE YOU LOOKING?

WhereLookingA young man recently shared this testimony with us. He was driving to our home, came to the lights which were red, and obediently followed the car in front of him. All of a sudden he realized he was going through a red light! Why? Instead of looking up at the lights, he followed the person in front of him. This could have got him into a lot of trouble.

How easy it is to do this in life. We subconsciously follow people around us. We assimilate into the ways of our humanistic society. Unless we diligently keep our eyes on Jesus and follow Him, we follow the crowd around us without realizing it.

Where are your eyes today? Are you looking to Jesus? Or are you influenced more by the pressure of family, friends and society?

Let’s be Jesus followers, not crowd followers.

Romans 12:2: “LOOKING UNTO JESUS the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the hem, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Keep your eyes in the right place today,

GUILTY?

GuiltyHave you read the words to the Newsboys song, “Guilty.” They wrote this song for the new movie, GOD’S NOT DEAD 2. However, they have received flack for the words of this song. There are some Christian radio stations who will not play it because they don’t want to offend! I beg your pardon! If we cannot stand up for Christ and for the truth, we should not use the name “Christian.”

May we never be ashamed to own Christ and to lift up His name. May we be Christ up-lifting families, never compromising with the spirit of this world.

This song and the new movie are getting negative criticism from the secular world and even the compromising Christian world. Praise the Lord, that means the devil doesn’t like it. He is scared. Let’s stand up for truth. Let’s go to the movie and take others with us. Oh yes, and here’s the words to the song:

When did it become breaking a rule
To say Your name out loud in school
When Your name is the only one that sets us free
When did it become incorrect
To speak the truth about life and death
When Your life gave us all eternity

Even if it gets me convicted
I’ll be on my knees with my hands lifted

If serving You is against the law of man
If living out my faith in You was banned
Then I’ll stand right before the jury
If saying “I believe” is out of line
If I’m judged ‘cause I’m gonna give my life
To show the world the love that fills me
Then I want to be guilty

I’ll rise up and honor You
I’ll testify to the good You do
‘Cause your grace and Your mercy have overtaken me

Guilty by association
Guilty of being a voice proclaiming
Your ways
Your truth
Your life
I’ll pay the price to be Your light

I want to be guilty

JESUS LOVES TO COME TO YOUR TABLE TOO

JesusLovesTableDo you remember when Jesus walked with the two disciples on the way to Emmaus? The two disciples were totally dejected and disheartened because the One who they thought would save them from the Romans was dead! But Jesus came along and began to speak to them from the Scriptures “the things concerning himself.” Oh how their hearts rejoiced and “burned within them” as He spoke to them.

But they still didn’t know it was Jesus. They came to Emmaus and although Jesus would have walked on, they begged him to come and eat with him. Then what happened? It was as they SAT AT THE TABLE and Jesus broke the bread, blessed it and gave it to them, that THEIR EYES WERE OPENED! Now, this was not communion. This was a daily Israeli meal where they broke the flat bread and dipped in their dishes to eat.

The amazing thing we see here is that it was when they were sitting together at the table that their eyes were opened. Did you know, dear ladies, that the table is a place of revelation? God loves to come and sit at our tables with us each day. He wants to be present. And He wants to bring understanding and revelation of Himself.

The table is not only a place to feed the body, but to feed the soul and the spirit. God comes to feed our spirit and open our eyes to Him and all that He wants to tell us. I believe the table is the most powerful place in our home.

But what happens instead? Do you think the devil wants us to come together as families? Do you think he wants us to strengthen our family ties as we eat and fellowship together? And do you think He wants our children to feel the presence of God at our tables as fathers read from God’s Word and we pray together? No. The devil knows the power of the table, the power of God’s Word, and the power of praying families. He will do everything in his power to keep you from these daily sacred moments.

He won’t use bad things. He knows he could never tempt you that way. He just gets you busy. He gets your children involved in all the curricular activities that take you away from the family meal table and the opportunity for God to visit with you and speak to you and your children.

Dear mother. Take a stand. Rise up against everything that would hinder this time with your family. Make it happen. Put aside anything and everything that interferes with this time.

You are the one that can make it happen in your home.

A CHEERFUL HEART

JoyfulHeartA cheerful heart will make such a different to your home today. But you don’t FEEL cheerful? That’s not the point. I hope you don’t live by your feelings. That’s a miserable way to live. In fact, it is a false way to live. Feelings are deceiving. They come and go. But truth is real. And the truth is that if you have received Jesus Christ into your life, you have living joy bubbling up within you. Jesus, who lives in you, is JOY. Hebrews 1:9 tells us that Jesus has more joy than anyone else in the world--and He lives in you!

Confess your joy today because it is the joy of Christ. Happiness is only dependent on circumstances; true joy is the life of Jesus Christ who lives within you (Colossians 1:27).

Jesus said in John 4:`14: “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that shall give him shall be in him a well of water SPRINGING UP into everlasting life.” The words “springing up” literally mean “to gush up, to leap up, to jump up.” That’s not passive; that’s active!

Therefore, whether you feel like it or not, speak joy and cheerfulness in your home today. Speak it by faith, whether you feel like it or not. As you speak cheerfulness, joy, encouragement and blessing it will change the atmosphere of your home and the behavior of your children.

Blessings to you today from Nancy Campbell

GOD IS WITNESS

GodWitnessWhen we stood at the altar and confessed our marriage vows, we were not only doing it in the presence of family and friends, but GOD. The Bible tells us in Malachi 2:14: “The LORD WAS WITNESS between you and the wife of your youth.” Our covenant-keeping God silently witnessed the covenant we made before Him. Our marriage vows are scared; we cannot take them lightly.

DAILY FAMILY WORSHIP

DailyFamWorshipDon’t deprive your family of this daily blessing. Be blessed by this encouragement from James Russell. Miller (1840 –1912), Christian author and pastor of several churches in Pennsylvania and Illinois:

"Hearts that are drawn together at God's feet every day in family devotions cannot drift very far away from each other. The domestic frictions of the day are forgotten when all voices mingle in the same heavenly song. As the tender words of Scripture fall with their gracious counsels, all feeling of unkindness melts away. The family altar in the midst wondrously hallows and sweetens the whole home. Besides, the family altar . . .
puts new strength into every heart,
comforts all sorrows,
is a shield against temptation,
smoothes out the wrinkles of care,
inspires strength for burden-bearing,
quickens every holy sentiment, and
keeps the fires of devotion burning on every heart's altar."

OFF THE ALTAR WE JUMP

OffTheAltarJesus Christ was our supreme sacrifice. He became the sacrificial Lamb, slain upon the altar for our sins. His ultimate sacrifice gives us forgiveness of sins, victory over sin in our daily life, sweet fellowship with Him, and eternal life. Romans 12:1 beseeches us that our logical and reasonable response should be to yield our lives to Him as a living sacrifice. What does this mean?

Jesus laid down His life to be our sacrifice. We have to lay down our lives to be a living sacrifice. We face this principle every day as wives and mothers. Constantly we choose whether we will demand our own way, decide to do that which pleases us, or lay down our life for our husband, our children, and for others. Every day we sacrifice our own selfish desires.

Sometimes this is a battle. We need to be constantly reminded of Psalm 118:27: “Bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.” We willingly lay our life upon the altar as we feel the moving of the Holy Spirit as we read God’s Word or in a worship service. But then we get back to the challenges of daily life and mothering--and off the altar we jump!

We need His cords to bind us. What are these cords? God says in Hosea 11:4: “I drew them with cords of compassion, with bands of love.” He says again in Jeremiah 31:3 “Yes, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”

Because Christ now dwells in our hearts (if we have been born again), we no longer live to ourselves, “but unto him which died and rose again” (2 Corinthians 5:14). This lifestyle of dying daily to our own selfish desires does not ruin our lives. Instead, it releases us into the joyful life of serving and sacrifice that is the life of Christ (Mark 8:35).

I read about a mission board that had an ox for its seal. On one side of the ox was an altar, on the other side a plough. Their motto was “Ready for either.” There are millions of Christians being martyred for their faith today (more than at any other time). They are literally dying upon the altar. Others (like you and me) become a living sacrifice and take up the plough of the daily grind of life. Not doing it grudgingly, but with joy and exhilaration.

May God save us from being jumping jacks--jumping off the altar as soon as anything becomes too difficult, looms bigger than we can imagine, or does not work out the way we planned. Instead may it become our lifestyle to be bound with joy to the altar, the least that we can do in response to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ for us.

IT’S NOT ENOUGH

NotEnoughWe know how important it is to hide God’s Word in our heart, don’t we? We understand how imperative it is to make sure our children hide God’s Word in their hearts. I’m sure you have taught your children Psalm 119:11: “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I night not sin against thee.” I agree with the old saying: “Sin will keep you from God’s Word, or God’s Word will keep you from sin.”

However, IT IS NOT ENOUGH! God not only wants us and our children to hide His Word in our hearts and souls. He wants it to come out of our mouths, our hands, and our feet. It’s only when it affects every part of our body that it truly works in our lives. Let’s check it out:

Our Mouths
God gives a mandate to us and our children and children’s children in Isaiah 59:21: “As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My Spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy MOUTH, shall not depart out of thy MOUTH, nor out of the MOUTH of thy seed, nor out of the MOUTH of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and forever.” I don’t think we could get the vision any clearer than that, do you?

It is only what we speak that we keep. “I believed; therefore have I spoken” (Psalm 116:10 and 2 Corinthians 4:13). We are born again into God’s family, not only by believing, but by confessing that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9, 10). We have to speak God’s Word and His truths out loud with our mouths for them to become part of our lives. And how can we pass them on to the next generation and to others if they don’t not flow out of our mouths?

Our Feet
David confessed in Psalm 119:59, 60: “I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies. I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.” God’s Word got into his feet. It kept his feet from evil. God wants to get His Word into our feet to work out in our lives, too. Instead of sitting on the sofa with our feet up (except when we are nursing babies, reading stories to our children, and talking to them of God’s ways which are great works) our feet walk around the house to make things happen and keep it in ship shape. They walk to people who need our help and encouragement.

Our Hands
When we read God’s Word, our hearts burn within us. But it can’t stay in our hearts. We lift up our hands with praise to God for His wonderful commandments. David said in Psalm 119:48: “My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved.” They also write and type God’s Words to bring encouragement to others.

God wants His Word to be so practical in our lives that it comes out of our hands. As mothers, we minister God’s love from our hands all day long as we caress babies, hug children, nurture children, hug our husbands, and work hard with our hands to make our home a delightful place. Cooking, baking, cleaning, shopping, and caring for our children are the practical outworking of God’s living Word (Psalm 128:3; 1 Timothy 2:15; 5;14; Titus 2:3-5 ad many others).

May we let God’s Word flow out of every part of our being today.

Be encouraged,

Nancy Campbell

GOOD MORNING, MRS. RIGHTEOUS

PutOnRighteousness“I beg your pardon. Are you talking to me?” I hear you say. “That’s not me. I’m for ever failing and getting angry with the children.” Yes, I understand. The Bible says: “There is none that doeth good, no, not one” (Psalm 14:3 and Romans 3:10). True!

“Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me” (Psalm 51:5). True!

“All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). True.

However, when Jesus died upon the cross for our sins, He died to not only save us from our sins, but to make us righteous! Yes, that is His purpose. He not only died for our sins, but lives again to dwell in our hearts by faith. When Jesus Christ comes into our lives, He comes in the fullness of who He is. And who is Christ? “Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 John 2:1).

The blessing of salvation is Christ in you and you in Christ. And because He is in you, He is righteousness in you. You have to get hold of this truth. You have no righteousness of your own, but you are righteous because of the righteous life of Jesus Christ who dwells in you.

1 Corinthians 1:30 says: “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.”

Therefore, in your home, in your kitchen, caring for your children, and managing your home, you are Mrs. Righteous.
Righteous Emma--Yes!
Righteous Rachel--Yes!
Righteous Jennifer--Yes!

As you embrace this truth and confess your righteousness in Christ, you will begin to live in the truth. You can’t confess that you are living in the righteousness of Christ and at the same time fly off the handle!

Be blessed today, Mrs Righteous.

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD

HaveHoldThe original wedding vows state: "I take you . . . TO HAVE AND TO HOLD from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, until death do us part." The words “to hold” are strong and powerful. What do they mean? What do they mean to you? I’ll share a few thoughts, but I’d love to hear from you too.

1. CONFESS YOUR LOVE AND COMMITMENT CONTINUALLY
The Bible tells us that we hold on to our faith by confessing our faith. I believe this is also a very important way to hold on to our marriage. Confession is a huge part of our every day our lives. We keep what we confess. Therefore, every day remember to say “I love you” to your husband. Many times a day is better. Confess your commitment to your marriage to your husband and to others.

2. ENCOURAGE YOUR HUSBAND DAILY
You can love your husband in your heart. You can think lovely things in your heart, but unless you speak them out they won’t impact his life. Husbands can’t do without encouragement. Encourage him daily.

3. RESPECT AND HONOR YOUR HUSBAND
It is innately within a husband to desire honor from his wife. God made him this way. Seek to show him honor in the little things of life and then it is easier in the big things.

4. DON’T LET ANYTHING GET IN BETWEEN YOU
When Jesus spoke about marriage, He stated the powerful words: “Let no man separate.” The word actually means to let nothing get in between you both. God wants you to be one. Glued together. Therefore, don’t let any relationship (and that includes Facebook relationships--you don’t need men on your Facebook), any church activity, any organization, or any attitude to get in between you.

5. DELIGHT TO COOK FOR HIM
Make it your responsibility to prepare healthy meals for him. Get his breakfast for him. Have a lovely meal ready for him when he comes home each evening. Prepare a lovely and inviting table for him to sit down to each evening. This shows your love to him.

6. DEMONSTRATE YOUR LOVE TO HIM
Touch, cuddle, and kiss and hug him when you see him throughout the day.

7. CONSISTENT SEXUAL INTIMACY
Encourage and solicit constant sexual intimacy with your husband. This is God’s beautiful intention for you and a big part of your marriage relationship. Never deny your husband; instead always welcome him.

I’ll look forward to hearing more from you about your commitment to your marriage vows “to hold” your husband.

Blessings from Nancy Campbell

OPEN YOUR MOUTH

OpenMouthHow do we stay strong in faith? How do we stand fast against the ungodly influence of others around us? God has the answer for us of course. The way to do it is to continually confess your faith. We are born again into the family of God by believing and CONFESSING that Jesus is our Lord (Romans 10:9,10). But we don’t stop there. We keep on believing and CONFESSING every day of our lives (Colossians 2:7).

You only keep what you speak out. Both David and Paul stated: “I believed; therefore have I spoken” (Psalm 116:10 and 2 Corinthians 4:13).

Can I encourage you to continually confess your faith, your hope, your convictions, and the truths God daily reveals to you? If you don’t speak them out, you’ll lose them. The more you speak them out, the more they become part of you, and you become UNWAVERING in your faith. You will stand no matter what people say against you.

SPEAK TO YOUR SOUL
When doubts and unbelief creep in, speak the truth out loud to your soul. When discouragement and despair begin to overwhelm you, encourage your soul. This is what David did: “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance” (1 Samuel 30:6; Psalm 42:5, 11; 43:5).

SPEAK TO YOUR HUSBAND
Share the truths and revelations you receive as you read God’s Word with your husband. As you share them, they will become even clearer and stronger in your spirit.

SPEAK TO YOUR CHILDREN
Speak out God’s truths and ways daily to your children. It is not enough to have God’s Word in your heart. You must have it in your MOUTH! And even that’s not enough. God’s purpose for you as a mother is to get His Word and His truths into your children MOUTHS! Not just their hearts.

Isaiah 59:21 is the vision we must have: “My Spirit who is upon you, and my words which I have put in your MOUTH, shall not depart from your MOUTH, nor from the MOUTH of your descendants, nor from the MOUTH of your descendants’ descendants, says the LORD, from this time and forevermore.” How will your children get it into their mouth unless it continually comes out of your mouth?

SPEAK TO EVERYONE YOU MEET
Always be ready to open your mouth to sow seeds of truth--to friends at church, but also to unbelievers you meet when shopping or out and about (Hebrews 3:13; 10:25; 1 Peter 3:15).

Hebrews 10:23 (ESV) says: “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering."

Truth becomes part of you when you confess it. Therefore, the more you confess, the less you will waver! The more you speak out, the less you will be intimidated by your antagonists.

Are you a confessing family? It’s the only way for you and your children to stay strong in the truth.

Blessings to you today,

Nancy Campbell

NO GENERATION IS EXEMPT

NoExemptionDo you really believe what God says? Do I? God’s words are eternal. He doesn’t give us a different set of plans for each generation, but His plans work for all generations. Yes, even in 2016! In fact, no generation is exempt from God’s plans and purposes. Every generation is without excuse.

Psalm 33:10, 11 says: “The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to naught: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect. The counsel of the LORD standeth forever. the thoughts of his heart to all generations.”

God established His plan for the way He wants us to live in the eons of eternity, from before the foundation of the world. He created male and female to bring them together in marriage. He wants them to be fruitful and fill the earth in order to take dominion for God. Together as families we advance God’s kingdom and bring light into the darkness all around us. God invests His power and authority in families. Marriage and family are the first institutions God gave and He has never changed His plans.

He makes His plans clear for the man to be the provider and protector of the home and for the female to be the nurturer and nourisher in the home and in society. Let’s be encouraged to embrace God’s everlasting ways that have never changed. Man often thinks he knows best but “The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to naught.” The fruit of man’s ways are an epidemic of divorce and fragmented families. God’s ways result in strong marriages and family life.

God does not change His statutes. We have to change to fit in with His plans, for they are eternal and unchanging.

The word “counsel” is “etsah” and means “advice, purpose, plan, decision.” The word “thoughts” is “machashabah” and is very similar in meaning, “intention, plan, purpose.” But did you notice the most beautiful thing? It’s the counsel and thoughts “of His heart.” They are not some unproved, fleeting idea, but come from God’s very own heart.

I’d rather take advice from God’s heart than man’s, wouldn’t you?

Be blessed today, Nancy Campbell

A RIGHT SPIRIT

RightSpiritIt’s so important to have a right spirit, isn’t it? Our spirit is who we really are. Our body is only the house of our spirit. The attitude of our spirit determines how we live our lives, tearing us down or lifting us up. It determines the atmosphere we create in our home.

After David sinned with Bathsheba, he cried out in repentance and confession, “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:11). The word “right” is "kuwn and means “erect, standing up straight, faithful, fixed.” It is the same word that is used in Psalm 57:7 and 108:1: “My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed.” Also Psalm 112:7 speaking of those who fear the Lord and delight in His commandments: “He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.”

Other translations of the Bible translate the word “steadfast” or “faithful.” I love the New English Translation which says: “Renew a resolute spirit within me!”

Is your spirit resolute? You are not swayed by the “lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.” You are not torn this way and that way. You are not double-minded in all your ways. Your heart is fixed in God’s truth. You are obedient to His ways, even if the way is difficult, even if the going is hard, even if no one else agrees with you, and even when family members and friends despise you for walking in truth!

God is looking for women with resolute spirits. Women who do not live according to “situational ethics” but according to God’s Word. We also train our children to have faithful, “standing up straight,” and resolute spirits. Children who will not be lured away by the temptations of this world, who will not be influenced by wrong friendships, and who will not be deceived by the humanistic philosophies of our society.

MAKE IT HAPPEN

MakeHappenYour home doesn’t suddenly become a home of tranquility and joy. Your home doesn’t suddenly become orderly. Your husband and children are not assured of your love and affirmation without your telling them. Nothing in life just happens. You have to make it happen.

Make beautiful things happen in your home today. Your attitude, your words, your doing what you have to do instead of dreaming about it, and your love and smiles will determine the blessing in your home.

Make it happen.
