Bigger Than You! - No. 19

Deuteronomy 4:37-38, “He brought you out of Egypt with his Presence, with his mighty power, driving out from before you nations greater and mightier than you…”

Isn’t God so good to give us a fresh new day every morning? Yesterday is gone. Perhaps you felt a total failure yesterday. Maybe everything went wrong. Forget it. Today is a new day. It is a new day for you to train and nurture your children for the destiny that God has planned for them. Don’t worry about all you have to accomplish. Instead, keep the eyes of your heart upon the Lord. He is your Sufficiency. He is your Strength. He is your Rock. He is the God who is Enough. He is the One who has given you this mighty task of training your children for His glory. Because He has given you this mandate, He will help you carry it out. You don’t have to do it on your own. He wants to work with you if you will let Him.

God has promised us in Psalm 55:22 that if we release the weight of our burden on to the Lord, that He will take it and He will sustain us. Isn’t that a wonderful promise? So why carry the burden yourself? Cast it upon the Lord.

Yes, I will admit that God has given you a big undertaking in motherhood. In fact, it is such an important assignment that it takes every effort of your being - physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. It is the greatest calling in the nation. You are training God’s task force. You are training the generation that could usher in the coming of the Lord. It’s a huge task, but you have a powerful God behind you. With God you can do things that are bigger than you.

God told the children of Israel to go into the Promised Land and drive out the nations that were “greater and mightier” than they were. Deuteronomy 9:1-3 says, “Hear, O Israel: You are to cross over the Jordan today, and go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fortified up to heaven, a people great and tall, the descendants of the Anakim (who were giants), whom you know, and of whom you heard it said, ‘Who can stand before the descendants of Anak?’ Therefore understand today that the Lord your God is he who goes over before you as a consuming fire. He will destroy them and bring them down before you; so you shall drive them out and destroy them quickly, as the Lord has said to you.” (Also read Deuteronomy 11:22-24)

God commanded them to do something that was bigger than they were! It was impossible to accomplish this task with their own strength. But He knew that they could do it, because He was with them.

Dear mother, do you feel that this job of motherhood is too much for you? Do you feel it is bigger than you can handle? Perhaps you are homeschooling and you feel totally overwhelmed. You don’t have to do it on your own. God is with you! Acknowledge that he is with you. Thank Him that He is with you.

Remember that with God you will do things that are

bigger and mightier than you!

PRAYER:

“Oh Lord, so many times I feel everything is too much for me. But I thank you that you are with me. You are my Strength. You are my Help. You are my Deliverer! I thank you that when you are with me I can do things that are greater and mightier than my natural strength. Lord, I claim your strength today. Thank you in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Above Only, Pt 3 - No. 18

Proverbs 31:10, “Who can find a virtuous woman, for her price is far above rubies.”

Dear mother, when you walk in victory and authority in your home, you are above rubies and above all other women in the home.

Let’s read Deuteronomy 28:13 again, “If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord… and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, and never at the bottom.” (NIV)

One of the greatest secrets to live above your daily problems is your confession.  What you speak has power to affect your life, your circumstances and the lives of your children in your home. Make sure you confession is positive.

Here are some affirmations for you to speak out loud today… and every day!

I am ABOVE the disposition of grumbling, complaining and self-pity.

I am ABOVE listening to negative thoughts about my husband and

our marriage. I am bound by covenant.

I am ABOVE the lure of being squeezed into the mold of this world’s

                      system.

I am ABOVE being intimidated by the antagonists of God’s truth.

I am ABOVE the fallacy that I am “just a housewife.” I am training

children to affect the course of this nation.

I am ABOVE the temptation to leave my divine career of motherhood

for a lesser career that only brings earthly reward.

I am ABOVE the deceiving humanistic philosophies that infiltrate the

                      media and society around me.

I am ABOVE the trials and frustrations that encompass me about.

I am ABOVE the tales and petty talk of the gossipers.

I am ABOVE self-preoccupation. I will give room in my heart and

mind for the needs of others.

I am ABOVE the pressure to “keep up with the Joneses”. I don’t have

to have everything everyone else has.

Don’t forget to speak these affirmations out loud. It is not enough to think them in your mind.

PRAYER:

“Lord, help me today to speak positive words. Help to speak only words of victory. Amen.”

QUOTE:

Dear mothers, here is a little poem which I taught to our children when they were young. Whenever they faced a challenge, we would quote this poem. I am sure that they can all still quote it today. It shows us the power of our confession. Perhaps you could teach it to your children too. However, I know it will encourage you as much as your children.

Two little men stood looking at a hill,

One was named, Can’t and one was named, Will.

Can’t said, “I never in the world can climb this hill,”

So there he is at the bottom of it still!

Will said, “I’ll get to the top because I will.”

Two little men are living by the hill,

At the bottom is Can’t, at the top is Will!

Above Only, Pt 2 - No. 17

Judges 5:24, “Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.”

Have you ever read the story of Jael in Judges chapters 4 and 5? If not, it’s worth reading. But I must warn you. It is rather gory. Perhaps I better tell you what she did in case you don’t get time to read the whole story today.

When Sisera, captain of the king of the Canaanites, was fleeing from the victorious Israelites, he ran to the tent (the home) of Jael. She brought him into her tent, gave him food, and let him sleep. However, while he was asleep, she took a hammer and a sharp tent peg, quietly crept up to him, and nailed the peg through his temples!  At her feet he lay dead!

I wonder why Jael was praised so profusely for such a bloodthirsty deed? A number of translations say, “Most blessed of women is Jael…”

I believe she was praised because she took authority over the enemy! It must have been a very scary thing for her, as a woman, to do. She was obviously all-alone. But she knew that there would never be peace in their land while this man lived! She had to take action. In doing so, she became blessed above all other women in their homes.

Dear mother, you have enemies that surreptitiously creep into your home. You have enemies that would seek to undermine your marriage and your home. You have enemies around you in society that want to steal your children from their divine purpose on this earth. Don’t let them linger around. Take authority over them in the power of the name of Jesus Christ.  If you are walking in obedience to the Lord and His word, you have this authority in His name.

Jesus said to His disciples in Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give unto you power… over all the power of the enemy.”

If you want to have the victory in your home, you as the mother must live in the victory. You must live above, and not beneath. This is the overcoming life. The eternal crowns and rewards are promised to the overcomers. Now, if there is nothing in your life to overcome, how can you be an overcomer? Life is full of challenges, difficulties and problems. You either live under them or above them!

Last year my son was involved in a huge undertaking that had never been done before. It was a mind-blowing project that was also thwart with constant problems and challenges. I talked to him one day and as his mother comfortingly asked, “How are you getting on with all your problems?”

“I don’t have problems,” he replied, “only work!” Every new problem is a challenge to overcome.

Will you live above today?

Love from NANCY CAMPBELL

PRAYER:

“Lord, I know that in you, I am “above” in all circumstances. Help me to remember this. Thank you for the victory that you give me. Help me to be an overcomer today in the power of the name of Jesus.  Amen.”

QUOTE:

“God wants you to be a victor, not a victim.”

Above Only, Pt 1 - No. 16

Deuteronomy 28:13, “Thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do them.”

Where do you live? Groaning under your circumstances? Or are you on top, looking down on them from a place of victory? It’s so easy to go under, isn’t it? It doesn’t take any effort at all. It takes a lot more effort to stay on top. But you can get into the habit of doing it. You have to change your current thought groove and switch gear into a new mindset.

When Peter wrote to the new believers who were scattered throughout the country that is called Turkey today, he encouraged them to “gird up the loins of their minds.” (1 Peter 1:13) The Modern Language Bible translates it well, “Brace up your minds for action, and be alert.” These believers understood what he was talking about. In those days, they wore long flowing robes. If they wanted to run or exercise, they had to pull up their robes and secure them so they would not be hindered in their action.

This is what you have to do with your minds. When you feel you are coming under your circumstances, gird up your mind. Capture your negative thoughts and oust them from you. Instead of agonizing over your problems, look down upon them from God's vantage point. Remember where God has placed you in the spirit realm. You have been lifted up to sit with Christ Jesus in the heavenly spheres. (Ephesians 1:6) See yourself there. See yourself looking down upon your problems.

Perhaps you feel overwhelmed in your home. Everything is in a mess. See yourself looking down upon it. From that vantage point, you’ll begin to see solutions to the problem. Dear mother, there is a solution for every problem. God has got a practical answer for every difficulty or frustration you face in your home. Of course, you’ll never see the way out while you are complaining and crying in the dust. You’ve got to look down from your position in Christ. As you do this, you’ll see things in their true perspective and the revelation for the victory will come!

God’s Word says that you will be “above only” and “not be beneath.” Wait a minute. There is a prerequisite. This promise is only to those who fully obey the commandments of the Lord. This promise is to those who not only hear God’s Words but who do them. But as you walk in obedience to the Lord, you can claim this promise.

Dear friend, you choose where you want to be today. Don’t let Satan take your mind captive. He’s laughing when you are in a miserable state. He wants you to feel a failure. Instead, “tear down reasonings and every proud barrier that is raised up against the knowledge of God and lead every thought into subjection to Christ.” (1 Corinthians 5:10 MLB)

God’s plan for you today is to be above only! Be there!

PRAYER:

“Oh Lord, I thank you for the amazing revelation, that because I am in you, I have been raised up to sit with you in the heavenly realm. This is beyond my natural thinking, but it is the truth. Help me to believe the truth. Help me to experientially live in this truth. Help me to see my problems from my position of sitting with you in heavenly places. Oh Lord, I thank you for the victories that I will see today as I live in this place. Blessed be your wonderful name. Amen.”

God Sings Over You - No. 15

Zephaniah 3:17, “The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you in His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Oh isn’t that wonderful? God loves you so much that He sings songs of joy over you. Because He delights in you, it spills over into singing.

God is the pattern parent. We should therefore have the same response to our children. Do you love to sings songs over your children? It’s easy to get in the habit of complaining about them. Why not get into the habit of singing over them instead?

He wants us to delight in them as He delights in us. When my youngest daughter was a baby, I created a special little song for her. It became her own song, which I sang to her all her life. I sang it to her when she was a baby, when she was a toddler, as she grew older, and even up until the time she was married. I would sing it to her when she went to bed, while she was playing, and when driving in the car.

It was a simple song with a simple little tune. Here are the words...

I love Serene

Yes I do

I love Serene

Yes I do

Serene is a special girl,

Serene is a loving girl,

Serene is an obedient girl,

Yes she is!

As I sang it over and over, I would change the words. I would sing all the wonderful attributes that I wanted to be part of her life. I would put in the song words such as – happy, good, peaceful, helpful, kind, faithful, precious and so on. As I sang this song to her over and over again, not only did it affirm my love to her, but also she was constantly blessed with positive words.

I now have a song for my little grandchildren. Once again it is a simple little tune I picked up from somewhere. You can either make up your own tune, use a nursery rhyme tune, or a familiar children’s Christian song. Here’s what I sing to Rashida…

Rashida is a lovely little girl,

Rashida is a sweet little girl,

Rashida is a precious little girl,

Yes, she is!

Once again, I change the words to deposit into her life whatever I feel she needs at the time. As you can see, they are so simple but a powerful blessing.

Would you like to write a simple joyful song for each of your children? Sing over them with joy. You don’t have to be a good singer. I can’t even keep a tune! What amazes me is that two of our daughters became professional singers. How did they manage that when they had a mother who sang to them out of tune?

PRAYER:

“Thank you, Lord, that you delight in me. Help me to have this same delight in my children. I ask that you will give me the right songs and the right tunes for each of my children, so I can constantly bless them. Amen.”
