POURING IN AND POURING OUT
Part 2
“Be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord”
(Ephesians 5:18, 19).
We continue to share about the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives:
HE POURS OUT RIVERS OF LIFE IN US AND THROUGH US
John 7:38, 39: “He that believeth on me, as the Scripture hath said, out of his belly (innermost being) shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive.)” The Holy Spirit within us is not a stagnant well. He is a flowing river and wants to flow rivers of life our from us. There are so many who are parched and thirsty, spiritually lifeless and dying. They are desperate for the manifestation of the life of Jesus through you and me.
As mothers we are to be life to our husband sand children. We cannot do this by ourselves, but only as we allow the Holy Spirit to flow through us. Let’s pour out life to our families today. Every day pouring out more life. Never a dried up well, but overflowing continually with the water of life.
The Spirit of God within us invigorates our mortal bodies with life. Romans 8:11 says: “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” The truth of this Scripture is mind-boggling. Because the Holy Spirt who raised Jesus from the dead lives in us, He is able to make alive and raise up our mortal bodies. He intends us to walk in divine health.
Are you sick and languishing? Do not doubt any longer. The Holy Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead dwells in you to heal you and make you alive. He is your Life-giver. He is your Healer. He is called the Spirit of life in Romans 8:2 and Revelation 11:
Keep your mind and heart richly filled with God’s Word. Jesus said: “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63).
HE POURS OUT INTERCESSION IN US AND THROUGH US
Romans 8:26, 27: “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for us we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Read also Romans 8:34; 1 Timothy 2:1; and Hebrews 7:25.
Jesus Christ is our Intercessor. As our High Priest he continually intercedes for us at the right hand of the Father. Because He is an intercessor, He wants us to be intercessors too. He is in us to help us intercede for others.
When the Holy Spirit truly dwells in our hearts, we will be motivated to intercede for others. As mothers, we embrace our responsibility to pray and intercede for our children. If we don’t pray for our children, who will? Pray together with your husband for your children each day.
Do you have a prayer meeting in your home? The Holy Spirit within us loves prayer meetings. To experience more of the anointing of the Holy Spirit in your home, organize prayer meetings. Weekly Prayer meetings have always been part of our family life--prayer meetings for Israel, prayer meetings for the community, prayer meetings for revival, and prayer meetings for the nation. Currently we have nightly prayer meetings with our extended family because we face a big challenge in our family.
And don’t forget to pray together morning and evening as you gather your family together for worship and Bible time. The Holy Spirit in us seeks to woo us from our selfish lives to pour out intercession for others.
Ephesians 6:18: “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”
