Isn’t this so true? The devil is doing everything he can to tear down marriages and families. He hates the family because He hates God. Marriage and family are the first institutions God ordained. We must guard that we don’t get used to a society of marriage and family breakups. It’s not the blessing of God.

There is nothing more powerful we can do in our lives than daily build up our marriage and our family life. It is difficult to build up a career and build up a marriage and home at the same time. It’s takes time and effort and prayer and sacrifice and much thinking about it to build into your marriage each day. And to make your homelife stronger. But when we have strong homes and strong families, we will have a strong nation. The weaker the family becomes the weaker the nation becomes.

May we each be a builder of the nation as we build our marriages and families.

This is so true also. The other Sunday at church one of our sons shared how that when he faces a difficult problem in his life that he goes deep into his soul and seeks to remember Scriptures that God brings to his mind. He takes time to do this. He shared how he is amazed how God faithfully brings the right words to him. But God is only able to do this because they were invested and implanted him in as a child.

He used the analogy of chess. He himself is a chess player and his children are Tennessee champions. Their homeschool team were in the top ten of the super-national championships of USA. He hopes his children will become Master chess players, but although he is a very good chess player, he knows he won’t make that title himself.

It is an established fact that no one has ever become a titled Master chess player if they have not learned chess before the age of 25. The earlier the better.

It is the same with God’s Word. We must imprint it on their hearts and minds while they are young. It must dwell in them richly so they can draw from it in the future lives. This doesn’t automatically happen. We as parents have the responsibility to imprint it upon them (Deuteronomy 4:9; 6:6-9; 11:18-22; Psalm 78:4-7; Isaiah 38:19;  and Colossians 3:16). We must do this daily, hopefully morning and evening which is the biblical pattern.

James 1:21 says that we are to “receive with meekness the engrafted word which is able to save your souls.” The word engrafted also means implanted. The AMPC translation says: “In a humble (gentle, modest )spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted (in your hearts) contains the power to save your souls.”

I also love the words Paul wrote to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:15: “And that from a child thou hast known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

The word child is "brephos" and refers to a baby in the womb (Luke 1:41, 44), and newborn baby (Luke 2:12, 16), and a child. This shows we should begin as soon as possible.

 NEW BABIES

You will have enjoyed seeing the wedding pictures of Trae and Chalice Ruppel and Megan and Noble Barrett in the Editorial. And our new grandbabies. But now there are more on the way! The most exciting news is that now Megan and Chalice are both pregnant and so excited as they wait for their first babies.

But there’s more. Megan’s sister Molly is married to Riku Higurashi, and she is pregnant too. See if you can keep following this . . . Kahoru is pregnant too, now looking forward to their second baby. Kahoru is married to Bowen (Pearl’s oldest son). Riku came to visit his sister, Kahoru, from Japan and fell in love with Molly (Megan’s sister) who is married to Noble (another one of Pearl’s sons) and later married her. Wow, could you keep up with all that?

Meadow, Pearl’s oldest daughter, was also hoping for another baby but sadly miscarried.

How exciting it is to have these precious new lives coming into our extended and growing family.

 MY PATH TO HEALING, Pages 8 and 9

I am sure you were blessed by Jessica’s testimony. I’d love to share with you the words of a song that Jessica recently wrote. She sings these words to encourage herself in the Lord and I know they will encourage you too. Jessica only picked up the guitar this January and yet she wrote and sang this beautiful song for us the other Sunday.

He is mighty, oh mighty is He,

He is the Prince of Peace,

Son of God, Deliverer.

 

He is our Abba Father

Who fills us with His love,

He calls us sons and daughters,

Honored and beloved.

  DO YOU THINK ABOUT FOOD?

Elijah was running from wicked Queen Jezebel. He’d been running for two days and was exhausted, so exhausted he was ready to end his life.

But God was watching over him and thinking about him. Thinking about he needed to be refreshed and nourished. So He sent His angel to bake him some bread on some hot coals and give him a jug of water. The angel woke him up and told him to get up and eat!

Elijah enjoyed this delicious hot bread and pure energizing water from God and went back to sleep! A while later, the angel come back, shook him again, and told him to eat some more. “You’ve got a long journey ahead” he said.

He got up, ate, drank to the full, and set off on his journey. It was such a nourishing meal that we walked in the strength of that food for 40 days and nights.

What gets to me about this incident is how God thinks about food. He thinks about feeding His people. He thinks about nourishing us. God loves food. He created all the beautiful fruits and vegetables for us to eat. He gave us creativity to cook with them and make them into palatable and delicious meals.

But dear ladies, if God thinks about feeding, we should think about it too. Of course, we can’t help thinking about it in our homes when we have hungry children all around us and a husband wanting a good hearty meal. But sometimes we don’t think about it enough.

We just cook the food  because we’ll have grumbling children if we don’t. I believe we should creatively think about it. We should think about how we can nourish our families. How we can make the most healthy-filled meals. How we can make the food taste tantalizing and delicious.

Food is all about taste. That’s why God created so many different tastes in foods. Food is boring if is tasteless. An important part of preparing food is to make it appetizing and delectable to the palate.

So let’s think about preparing food for our families. And not only our families, but for others. Do you love hospitality? There’s hardly an evening that we don’t have people joining us at our meal table. Tonight we’ll have 12 of us, mostly young people. I am looking forward do it.

Let me remind you again dear mother that you are not wasting your time when you think about the food for your family. You are being like God. He thinks of how He can feed and strengthen His people, both physically and spiritually. That’s one of the powerful things about motherhood. We are feeders, both physically and spiritually. We reveal the likeness of God as we do this in our families and also reaching out to others.

  BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Recently I celebrated my 80^th birthday, although seems rather strange because I don’t even imagine myself at this age. I’m too busy and too much to do.

Anyway, I have been blessed with three celebrations. A Family Celebration and few close friends which we enjoyed at our home—64 of us although not all could make it. We would have over 100 if everyone in the family could come.  It was a great night of food and fellowship. Although people brought food, our eldest son provided most of the food, bringing the favorite of everyone in our family—Indian food. We all love hot food. And we had lots of speeches.

Then my dear friend, Erin Harrison, who lives on the Hilltop wanted to put on two more celebrations, one for all the young mothers and babies and children so they wouldn’t miss out, and one for the older ladies.

We were hoping to have the one for the young mothers at our home by the playground, but it was a rainy day, so we all went to Erin’s home where we enjoyed the most beautiful luncheon.

Then on Sunday evening, 6^th June we enjoyed the Ladies’ High Tea. Let me tell you all about it—it’s a beautiful example of thinking about food.

A BEAUTIFUL WAY TO SHOW LOVE

Erin called the celebration night “Fancy for Nancy,” and everyone was asked to come really dressed up and with a hat to match! 

Each person was asked to bring a dessert or savory dish, but the day before Erin got an idea, which was a surprise. She decided to turn it into a really royal Tea Party, and she set to work to bake 10 different English recipes for the party! Did I say 10? Yes, 10 different recipes that would have taken most people a day to do one of them! There’s no one like Erin. She can do anything!

At the party, one of our lovely ladies brought each dish around to show everyone and they had to guess the name of the recipe. I have to confess that even with my English background I didn’t win the competition.

Anyway, let me tell you about what she made. And I’d love to know how many you would have guessed!

No. 1. Scones. Well, we all knew what they were. It is very English to have scones with jam and cream. In our family, often on a Sunday evening we will make scones with jam and cream, a favorite because we come from New Zealand.

No. 2. Victoria Sponge. Erin made such a beautiful six-layered sponge with whipped cream between each layer.

No. 3. Chelsea Buns. They are made with currants or raisins, and cinnamon, allspice, and lemon peel. They look a little like cinnamon rolls.

No. 4. English Shortbread. We could all guess this one. Shortbread is a favorite of most people, but I think this was the best shortbread I have ever eaten in my life. Erin made all her dishes with freshly ground einkorn flour. so they were so healthy.

No. 5. Figgy Pudding. We sometimes sing about this when we are out caroling at Christmas time . . .

“Now, bring us some figgy pudding,
Now, bring us some figgy pudding,
Now, bring us some figgy pudding, and bring it out here!

The funny thing is that I had never eaten figgy pudding until Sunday evening! I didn’t even know what it was! But wow, I have never eaten anything so delectable I’ll post a picture of it. It includes dates and figs and raisins and eggs and flour. Erin made a beautiful job of them.

 

No. 6.  English Trifle. This is a familiar one of course, made with sponge cake, custard, jelly, whipped cream, and berries, all layered. It's always a favorite at every party back home in New Zealand. We could purchase packages of custard powder (from which we make the custard) from the supermarket but it is difficult to procure here in USA. However, not to be outdone, Erin made her own custard with eggs which was even healthier.

No. 7. Spotted Dick. This was another one I hadn’t heard of. Apparently, it was also a favorite of Queen Victoria's. It is a boiled pudding with lemon undertone and is spotted with raisins. Dick was another name for pudding, derived from the word “dough.”

No. 8. Cornish pasty, made perfectly by Erin. Couldn’t get better at any restaurant.

No. 9. Mincemeat pies. These aren't made with meat, but with raisins and such in little cases of pastry which they make especially at Christmas time.

No. 10. Bubble and Squeak, made from leftover potatoes and cabbage. I sometimes made this for the children when they were growing up. You can also include eggs and other leftovers when frying them up.

How many of these would you have guessed correctly?

But what I am really wanting to share with you is the time, effort, creativity, and thoughtfulness Erin put into making all these recipes in order to make it such a special evening for all the ladies.

After the wonderful food, and there was just too much to eat, we had “Pass the Parcel” which is a game we often play at our parties. This time, they were questions about my childhood, courtship and “raising our children” days. They had to do a lot of guessing but they also found out lots of secrets about my life.

NO EXCUSES

Lying in the bath the other night I read the words in Psalm 30:9: “Shall the dust praise thee? Shall it declare thy truth?” No. We have only one chance to declare God’s truth and make known the glory of God and that’s while we are here on this earth. When we meet the Lord, all our opportunities will be gone.

The word “declare” is a strong word. The Hebrew word, nagad means “to front, to stand boldly out opposite, to manifest, announce, expose, predict, denounce, and certainly declare.” We can declare God’s truth in different ways.

1. The Bible tells us we can declare God’s truth by sending a message through the post ((Jeremiah 51:31). You can write an encouraging word on a card and send it to someone who is hurting or downcast. That’s a beautiful thing to do. These days, you can use your social media. It can be a time waster, or you can use it to proclaim God’s truth. If you can’t think of messages to send out, you can share some of mine.

2. The Bible tells us we declare God’s truth by singing (Psalm 78:9). I love the words in Isaiah 48:20 where it says: “God ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a VOICE OF SINGING DECLARE YE, TELL this, UTTER it even to the end of the earth; SAY ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob.” God wanted the miracle of bringing His people from the bondage of Babylon to be declared to the ends of the earth.

But do you notice that God uses six different words to remind them to boldly proclaim His works? Voice, singing, declare, tell, utter, and say! The Hebrew words for voice and singing both mean to make a LOUD noise.

3. And of course we declare His truth by speaking boldly. Upfront. Speaking boldly. We are not afraid to speak the truth even if it is counterculture. We fear God rather than man (Acts 4:19, 20 and 5:29). In most cases in the Bible, it was only the remnant that stood fast to God’s truth. Let’s never be taken in by the most popular opinion (Matthew 7:13, 14).

We have no excuse for hiding our light, being too fearful to speak, or not wanting to step on anyone’s toes. e

Let’s be declarers of God’s truths to our children, our grandchildren, and all whom we meet. Let’s remember that our only privilege and opportunity to declare God’s truths are in this lifetime.

Dear Above Rubies reader,

Many blessings to you today. I pray that the joy of the Lord and the peace of God is pervading your home. God loves homes and He wants to fill your home with His presence.

The greatest thing you can do in this hour is to build your home and make it strong. When you and your husband are making decisions for your family, as you constantly need to do, here’s a good principle to remember:

If it will weaken and fragment the family, forget it.

If it will strengthen the family together, go for it!

Aim to do the things that will strengthen your family bonds and keep you together. Never abandon the biblical practice of gathering your family around the meal table each day. The family gathering at the meal table is how God loves to describe a blessed home (Psalm 128:3)..

This last week I have been reading through Revelation again. I love to read it every now and then. It keeps me in the fear of God!

I was challenged as I read Revelation 15:2, 3. John was looking into heaven and writes: “And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that

had gotten the victory OVER the beast,

and OVER his image,

and OVER his mark,

and OVER the number of his name,

stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty, just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.”

We need to confess this Scripture out loud repeatedly to get it into our being. God does not want us to give in but to have the victory over! It would be good to teach this Scripture to our children so they can memorize. They are going to need it in days to come.

We don’t want to experience what happened in Nehemiah’s time: “They have dominion over our bodies . . . at their pleasure, and we are in great distress” (Nehemiah 9:37).

As we observe everything that is happening in society at this time, we see that it could not be long before we face the Mark of the Beast. I believe it is so important that we seek to get the victory over the things NOW that our leftist government is seeking to put upon us. Their agenda is total control of the population. And instead of living in this great “land of the free,” we are facing tyranny.

I believe it is very important to exercise courage. Courage is far more than an attribute. It is a muscle that gets stronger with use. If we don’t exercise courage, we atrophy and stay weak and wimpy. It takes courage and effort to do something that is not easy. Even if we only have a little courage, if we exercise it, our muscle courage will grow stronger and we’ll find it easier to do difficult things, to stand up for truth, and to resist evil and tyranny.

We must prepare ourselves, and our children, for that day when we cannot buy or sell if we take the mark. We don’t wait until then. We prepare now. We must exercise courage to say No to tyranny. We dare not give in to the submitting of our bodies to foreign substances, and a vaccine that is only experimental, and which is causing thousands of deaths, and a myriad of medical problems. Each time we exercise courage, it grows stronger, and we will be prepared for more difficult days ahead. If we have succumbed in every trial run, we’ll succumb to the Mark of the Beast.

I think of the great heroes of the faith in Hebrews 11. Verse 34 tells of those “who out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of aliens.” They didn’t start out strong. They were weak in faith and courage. But as they exercised their courage, they became stronger. They “became strong out of weakness, became mighty in war . . .” (Darby).

As parents we must be extra careful. Many doctors and scientists are warning that the spike protein of this vaccine affects the fertility of both males and females.

I have just watched a most informative video by Dr. Roger Hodkinson. Try and search for it or you may find it under Kaalaman sa BAkunA. This is one of so many that are around although many are taken down as soon as they appear. Big Tech will not allow us to hear truth.

BE BRAVE AND COURAGEOUS

We are living in unprecedented times. Who would believe that here in America, the “land of the free,” that we would be living under a fraudulent and treasonous government who stole an election? It is hard to believe, isn’t it?

Who would believe that this nation, and the whole world, has believed the lies of the liberal elite who want tyranny over our lives? They have used this plandemic to shut down churches, shut down businesses, isolate families in hospital, and bring the whole world into fear.

But why did so many listen to the lies? Were we not grounded and established in the truth of God’s Word? God gave us 365 “Fear Nots” in His Word, one for  every day of the year.

I often think of the words of David, the Psalmist in Psalm 11:1: “In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to our mountain?” When we put our trust in the Lord, we don’t have to fear. We don’t need to run. We don’t need to hide. We don’t need to wear masks, social distance, or take vaccines!

Oh wow, I certainly don’t sound very politically correct, do I? You may be raising your hands in horror! “But aren’t we meant to be protecting people?” Dear ladies,  the Cabal certainly used a good line, there, didn’t they? That excuse is not about protecting people. It is all about control. Their plan is to bring in the Great Reset, which as I am sure you know, the No. 1 aim is:

“You will own nothing, and you will be happy!”

Well, if you are not happy about their plan, you need you need to wake up to what they are doing and how they are preparing us now for this reset. How will people be happy when they are reduced to owning nothing and in total tyranny to the government? Well, they’ve got to reduce people to that status, and they are working on it now. They are finding it very easy/ Already, people are willingly and submissively giving into their lies. Even men who are supposed to be brave and courageous give in to wearing a mask! I find that hard to take in!

I recently read an interesting article by Mike Whitney of the Unz Review. He ends his writing by quoting a 2010 article by Andrew Gavin Marshall:

“Francis Galton later coined the term “eugenics” to describe this emerging field. His followers believed that the ‘genetically unfit’ “would have to be wiped away,” using tactics such as, “segregation, deportation, castration, marriage prohibition, compulsory sterilization, passive euthanasia – and ultimately extermination.”… Sir Julian Huxley was also a life trustee of the “British Eugenics Society from 1925, and its President from 1959-62. … “Huxley believed that eugenics would one day be seen as the way forward for the human race,” and that, “A catastrophic event may be needed for evolution to move at an accelerated pace.”

“The 21st-century technologies are so powerful that they can spawn whole new classes of accidents and abuses. Most dangerously, for the first time, these accidents and abuses are widely within the reach of individuals or small groups. They will not require large facilities or rare raw materials. Knowledge alone will enable the use of them…. I think it is no exaggeration to say we are on the cusp of the further perfection of extreme evil, an evil whose possibility spreads well beyond that which weapons of mass destruction bequeathed to the nation-states, on to a surprising and terrible empowerment of extreme individuals.

“…. Due to improved techniques the elite will have greater control over the masses; and because human work will no longer be necessary the masses will be superfluous, a useless burden on the system. If the elite is ruthless, they may simply decide to exterminate the mass of humanity. If they are humane, they may use propaganda or other psychological or biological techniques to reduce the birth rate until the mass of humanity becomes extinct, leaving the world to the elite….

“A horrifying vision; indeed, but one which builds upon the ideas of Huxley, Russell and Brzezinski, who envisioned a people who – through biological and psychological means – are made to love their own servitude. Huxley saw the emergence of a world in which humanity, still a wild animal, is domesticated; where only the elite remain wild and have freedom to make decisions, while the masses are domesticated like pets. Huxley opined that, “Men and women will grow up to love their servitude and will never dream of revolution. There seems to be no good reason why a thoroughly scientific dictatorship should ever be overthrown.” (“New Eugenics and the Rise of the Global Scientific Dictatorship”, Andrew Gavin Marshall, Global Research)

“We must ask ourselves whether the current mass vaccination campaign is a science-based effort to relieve sickness and disease or a fast track to a dark and frightening dystopia conjured up by evil men seeking to tighten their grip on all humanity?”

And as you already know, Bill Gates’ family was, and is, heavily involved in eugenics. Bill Gates plainly confesses that his aim is the depopulation of the world.

Dearest mothers, let’s wake up. What is happening is not how God intends us to live. It is the opposite of His plan. And such fear, intimidation, and tyranny, all for a virus with a 99.9 percent cure.

We need to remind ourselves of Revelation 21:8. At the top of the list of those who will have their part in the lake of fire is the “fearful.” Most translations give the word “coward.” The AMPC is challenging: “The cowards . . . and the cravenly lacking in courage and the cowardly submissive . . .” Why have people cowardly submitted? If no one had submitted to this tyranny, the elite would not have had any power over us. We have given them the power.

DANGERS OF THE COVID VACCINE

Oh do forgive me, won’t you? I seem to be on every bandwagon. And I am sure you would guess that I will not be taking any of the three current vaccines that are available for this so-called virus. I don’t believe God intends us to get vaccines that are filled with harmful ingredients and which have never had opportunity to be tested. They need years to fully test a vaccine!

I believe that God has equipped us with a wonderful immune system. The best thing we can do is to strengthen and stimulate our immune systems. That’s the best way to keep healthy against any disease or virus that is going around.

Now please don’t get me wrong. This is a free country. I believe in individual freedom. And if you feel strongly to get the vaccine, you are certainly free. But I do believe that each person should be free to choose. We should stand against mandatory vaccines.

The sad part is that most people choose because of the information they hear from the fake media and also the pressure that is upon them to take it.

I think we need to check out a lot more information before making a decision. And that’s not easy to do, is it? If you go on to the Internet, you see nearly every article saying they are perfectly safe and pressuring you to get the vaccine.

You’ve got to search to find the truth. Usually any truth that is posted will be shut down as a conspiracy theory. I trust you realize that all truth is now called conspiracy theories by the left. And Fact Checking? Oh wow! You can’t believe the fact-checkers. They are for the purpose of covering up the truth.

I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!

Aldi is my favorite grocery store. All of us on the Hilltop shop at this store. However, the other week I was in the city and popped into a new Aldi to get one or two items. I needed to use the restroom before I left and could not believe my eyes when I got to the door. I was so grieved, saddened, and offended to see that they have joined with the transgender deception. It is not enough to have a male and female restroom, but they have added the picture of a half/man, half/woman!

I will show you the picture. Imagine little children looking at that picture! What about our young people? We cannot take this sitting down.

Do you shop at Aldi? If so, I would please urge you to write to the main office and state your concerns. They will be putting these restrooms in every new Aldi. Go to the internet for address and emails for Aldi.

Your local Aldi, like ours, may still be traditional. Please also contact, call, or write to your local manager where you shop and tell them that if they change to transgender bathrooms, they will lose your custom.

To not do something is to side with transgender which is a slap in the face to God who created us male and female! We must stand up for the truth.

Ephesians 5;11: “Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.”

But guess what, I also wrote the above on my Facebook. I received 4,500 comments! No, not likes. I didn’t get so many of those! But over four and a half thousand comments, mostly pro transgender! I simply couldn’t believe it! We are sure in a battle for righteousness.

WHAT’S YOUR MARRIAGE TEMPERATURE?

Have you lost your first love? Jesus rebuked the church at Ephesus because they had lost their first love for Him. To keep love going, we have to rekindle it, don’t we? God’s heart of love never changes toward us, but we need to keep our hearts close to Him and loving Him back. We do this by keeping in His Word, in prayer, and fellowshipping with the saints.

It seems that we are prone to losing the first fire of love It happens in marriages too. What is the current temperature of love in your marriage? Is it hot and passionate or getting a little cold and boring?

Love doesn’t automatically keep hot without action. Without doing anything, it easily slips away.

Jesus told the Ephesus church to “repent, and DO the FIRST works”: (Revelation 2:5). The Passion translation says: “But I have this against you: you have abandoned the passionate love you had for me at the beginning. Think about how far you have fallen! Repent and do the works of love you did at first.”

Jesus never rebukes us without giving an answer. And here is the answer to returning to our first love to Jesus. We do what we did in the beginning.

It’s the same in our marriages. If our love toward our husband is waning, we don’t let it go on that way. We DO something. First of all, we repent! Then we start doing what we did when we first fell in love.

You wouldn’t be married unless you fell in love with your husband. When you fell in love with him, you spoke lovingly and kindly to him You spoke endearingly to him. Begin doing this again.

You were sweet to him. How sweet are you now?

You smiled at him and looked at him adoringly. Are you doing that when he talks to you now?

You wanted to be with him all the time and communicate with him? Are you communicating now?

When love has grown really cold, it can seem impossible to get back the first love. But do it one step at a time. You take the first step. You do one little thing you used to do. And then you take the next step and the next step and as you keep doing the things that made your husband fall in love with you at the beginning, it will restore that glorious love between you again.

In fact, it will be more glorious Older love is even more amazing than first love. Never be satisfied with lukewarm love. Go for the ultimate. It will happen if you do what God says.

UPDATE ON ABOVE RUBIES #97.

Dear lovely ladies,

Although families in America received their new Above Rubies, #97 some time ago, because of COVID-19 they have been slowly arriving at other countries. Besides USA, UK and Continental Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea have now received their magazines.

I am so sorry, Canadian readers, it’s hard to believe that your magazines are still waiting at the border and I hear that your Prime Minister is not opening them up for another month. Ridiculous and crazy! Thank you for having such patience. And because Above Rubies goes to well over 100 countries of the world, there are many countries that are still closed. But they will eventually get to you.

Nothing ever stays the same, does it? Already there are changes since I sent out this magazine, so I will share the updates with you.

EDITORIAL NEWS

You will see the seven sisters on page 1 of the new issue. Meadow gave birth to their second baby boy, Raymond, on the 28 April. Meadow and her husband, Kendall were living in Japan while Kendall worked with Nissan there. However, because of the corona virus they allowed them to come back to USA to have their baby before Japan shut down. It was lovely for Meadow to have her baby here, surrounded by family, rather than isolated from family and friends in Japan.

Kendall will have to go back for awhile when the country opens up again, but in the meantime, they are here on the hilltop.

Just received the exciting news as I type this that Rashida gave birth to her baby boy this morning (6/20, 2020), Roland Paris (their third baby). He was 8 lbs. 8 oz. Her husband, Jack, said  they are not used to such little babies. Her girls were over 11 pounders! This picture is of Rashida at her baby shower. We had such a wonderful baby shower for Rashida as over 50 ladies crowded into Pearl’s home! Great fellowship. Funny stories of embarrassing births! Great prayers for Rashida. And great presents! This picture is of just one gift and there is more to come out of the one bag! From a dear friend who has loved to spoil Rashida all her life.

You will see the picture on page 2 of the Allison and Hartman girls in Israel. Two of the Hartman girls, Eden and Halle have just been staying with us for a few days and then the whole family will come for a few days over July 4^th which is their annual tradition. The Hartman family are the ones who organize our Above Rubies Family Retreat in Laguna Beach, Florida. You can read more about it below.

As I mentioned in the editorial, we currently have six courting couples in our family The other night I hosted a beautiful courting couples’ dinner with four of the couples (two of the couples couldn’t make it). Enjoy the pictures.

After listening to PODCAST 82 (From Our Home to Yours with Nancy Campbell) a listener wrote:

“Dear Mrs. Campbell,
I set the table last night and I was very pleasantly surprised by my nine-year-old son's reaction. He sat up straight, held his napkin in his lap, tried to use his best manors, asked to be excused, and pushed his chair back under the table! Will said he learned about pushing the chair back under the table from watching Bananza, HA. He loves old Westerns.

We eat together as a family daily, but I never set the table. I stack all the plates and spoons in one pile in front of me, then make plates and pass them out after the blessing. A single spill proof water bottle is shared. This all is partly because, up until now, I've had so many babies that would throw everything on to the floor sooner and repeatedly more than I could stop them.

We have gone over table manners before. But last night, I did not declare that this would be a practice time. Everyone, especially Will, just took it upon themselves to be as proper as possible, without me saying a word, JUST BECAUSE THE TABLE LOOKED NICER THAN USUAL.

That's remarkable because our table is too small for a centerpiece. The most unique thing I added was ready made individual glasses of water and old dried out sticky pads with their names written in cursive with an adjective sitting on their plates:

Wonderful Wisteria,

Lovely Lois,

Darling Daddy 😄.

BEAUTIFUL HOME BIRTH

Jennifer Corcoran wrote WHY DO I HOMESCHOOL? on pages 24-25 of this latest issue. Since the magazine was published, she gave birth to baby No. 5. Jennifer writes:

“Audrey Annagail Corcoran was born May 18th at 5:03 am, weighing 7 lbs. 6 oz. The midwife’s assistant said Audrey’s birth was the most beautiful one she had ever seen—

Outside in our screened-in porch,
Rain falling on the metal roof,
The sound of a single frog croaking,
And she was born right at the break of dawn.

It was great being home, not having to leave my other children; and the timing worked out perfectly where they were able to wake up and meet their newest sibling. Audrey’s name means Noble Strength. Anna means Grace and Favor, Gail means A Father’s Joy. Her middle name is the combination of her two grandmothers’ names.

MY BIRTH EXPERIENCES

As I write this, I am expecting our fifth child. I have learned something from each one of my natural births and I wanted to share in case it can be helpful to other preparing for their natural birth.

The first couple of births I experienced "from the outside." What I mean by this is the intensity of my sensations were made visible to those around me. I felt I had to show my midwives how I was feeling so they could judge the stage of my labor. I also felt I had to show my husband how I was feeling so he could best support me. Nothing extreme—my face showing pain and making sounds of intensity. Normal stuff.

However, what I discovered with my fourth birth is (at least for me) the secret to a birth that I can best describe as worshipful, peaceful, and beautiful is when I experienced the birth "from the inside."

I didn't make one sound or facial expression that showed discomfort throughout the entire 10-hour birth except for the last few minutes. It's not that I felt I couldn't show these signs of labor, I just went deep inside myself instead. My focus wasn't on sharing what I was feeling with those around me.

I listened to worship music (in earphones which I feel is important to make it even more intimate). I praised God. I focused on how thankful I was for this moment and for this experience.

And here's something I did that was extremely helpful—I focused on the sensations of labor as though they were a large marble in my hand which I would roll around and examine, study, try to learn every detail of: the weight, shape, design, colors, and feel. So with each contraction, I studied it. Almost held it, explored it, leaned into it, and grasped for it as it faded away (instead of tensing up and wishing it would end.) When I did this, the waves of birth became familiar and predictable— not scary. I learned how it felt as a contraction began, how it climbed in intensity, and then the feeling as it started to fade.

It helped that it didn't feel like something happening to me, but it felt like something I was allowed to be a part of. The opening of my body to bring life.

And the final thing I discovered (this is hard to fully describe but I am going to try). To experience labor like this, going deep within, is a very intimate thing. Intimacy with yourself and intimacy with God. My husband was a huge support and I definitely felt his presence, but I still felt like ultimately it was something I was to walk through alone. It was an experience that I would most imagine the process of death to be like. Not a scary traumatic death, but a passing from this life into the arms of God. Even though you may be surrounded by loved ones, it's a connection to God that is truly just for you and Him. No one can go with you. There's quiet. There's acceptance. There's anticipation. There's peace. And there's confidence. There's awareness you didn't have before about life. It's a spiritual thing when you allow your body to get out of the way. You are changed.

So, that's what I loved about my fourth birth and what I look forward to with this next birth and any more I am blessed to experience. WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT CHURCH?

On May 22^nd President Trump encouraged the reopening of churches for the Sunday of May 24^th and stated that “Churches are Essential.” It is now the middle of June and yet so many churches are still not open! Where are the pastors leading God’s flock? Where are God’s people flocking back to their churches?

The president has given his blessing to reopen churches and they also have the backing of the Constitution behind them.

“The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution PREVENTS (my capitals) the government from making laws which regulate an establishment of religion, prohibit the free exercise of religion, or abridge the freedom of speech, the freedom of the press, the right to PEACEABLY ASSEMBLE, or the right to petition the government for redress of grievances.”

And what about Ex parte Milligan, 71 U.S. 2 (1866) which continues to stand to this day? As follows:

“Section 98 therefore, ANYONE who declares the suspension of constitutionally guaranteed rights (to freely travel, peacefully assemble, earn a living, freely worship, etc.) and or attempts to enforce such suspension with 50 independent sovereign, continental United States of America is making war against our constitution(s) and therefore, WE THE PEOPLE. They violate their constitutional oath and, thus, immediately forfeit their office and authority and THEIR PROCLAMATIONS MAY BE DISREGARDED WITH IMPUNITY and that means ANYONE, even the governor and President.”

Some churches have opened but are requiring temperatures to be taken, embracing social distancing, and wearing masks. That doesn’t sound like church life to me. It’s nothing like the Bible description. I wonder why so many Christians are still in fear. The projections of this virus have not come to pass. They have turned out to be lies and fake news.

The virus has flattened out and yet they are putting on more restrictions! It doesn’t add up. It is a tyrannical crackdown on the people of our free country. Aren’t we supposed to be the “land of the free and the home of the brave”?

Now that we hardly hear of a case of COVID-19 businesses and organizations are still demanding people wear masks which have scientifically proved to be most unhealthy. Not only are they unhealthy, but they have a purpose. They want to muzzle the population and silence us! They don’t want us standing up for truth.

Since when have God’s people disobeyed His Word to obey government ideologies? Ideologies that are not even law. There is nothing written in law to demand we social distance or wear a mask! People are voluntary giving up their freedoms!

As I checked out my groceries the other day, the check out lady was finding it difficult to breathe. She had to pull down her mask to get her breath! I am glad it was me at that moment. I encouraged her to keep it off for awhile and breathe some fresh air!

Our daughter and husband took us out for a meal recently. All workers were wearing masks. I watched one young man go behind a wall, pull his mask down, and take some deep breaths. How long is this ridiculous nonsense going to go on?

We are being treated like little children! Well, I certainly wouldn’t even demand a child wear a mask. They will touch their face more than ever. And they can be very dangerous on smaller children.

Why can’t we get back to living with common sense? If a person is sick, they won’t go out or even go to church. Isn’t that normal common sense? Isn’t what we have always done? But healthy people should not be quarantined.

It is so sad that so many Christians, even more than secular people, are living in fear They fear to meet with the saints of God. My, when the saints come together, we are in an atmosphere of healing and the power of God. Romans 8:11 tells us that the Spirit of God that raised up Jesus Christ from dead dwells in us and makes alive our mortal bodies. How can we fear sickness when God’s Spirit dwells in us? Or perhaps believers no longer believe the Bible!

Fear is dangerous. The Bible tells us that what we fear will come upon us (Job 3:25), From the beginning of this virus, my husband and I have not quarantined. My husband is 80 years of age and I will be 80 years next year! We have continued our church services throughout the whole time. We have continued hospitality and fellowship with God’s people. We have continued hugging. We have wanted to get immunity which I believe we have. We have not been sick and have never felt better in our lives.

I believe we should be spreading hope rather than fear. The negative predictions keep coming through the air waves that there will be more waves of the virus. How do they know? Every prediction they had previously was wrong and so why should we believe them now? If se speak negative things into being, that’s what we’ll get. But if we spread hope and faith and life and healing, that’s what we’ll have.

WOMEN OF STRENGTH, COURAGE, AND VALOR

After 40 years of wandering in the wilderness the children of Israel were ready to go into the Promised Land. Moses told all the people that he would not be going with them, but Joshua would lead them in. And then he said: “ENCOURAGE him; for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.”

We need to encourage those who lead us.

President Trump needs our encouragement, and of course, mostly our prayers. Daily he receives more antagonism and hatred than any president in history.

Our pastors need our encouragement.

Those who are sacrificing and pouring out their lives in different ministries need our encouragement.

And of course, mothers need encouragement!

Yes, you need encouragement. We all do, don’t we? The word “encourage” in the Hebrew here is “chazaq” and means “to bind fast, hold fast, to strengthen, to support, to make firm, to be strong, courageous, valiant, helpful, and to conquer.”

Dear wife and mother, God has called you to a powerful career. It is God-mandated. God-commissioned. God-designed. And God-planned. You are not wasting your life away as you nurture your children in your home. You are in the very perfect will of God.

You are influencing a nation. You are influencing future generations. As you train and teach your children in God’s Word and His ways you are determining the destiny of this nation. Our nation will only be what comes forth from the homes of this generation.

Therefore I encourage you today to hold fast to your divine calling. Don’t be intimidated by your antagonists. Don’t be pulled into the deceptions of our humanist society. Stand fast to truth even when everyone else is going a different way.  Romans 3:4 says: “Let God be true, but every man a liar.”

I encourage you to be strong, courageous, and valiant. That’s the meaning in Proverbs 31:10: “Who can find a virtuous woman, for her price is far above rubies.” The word “virtuous” is “chayil” and means “valiant and strong.” It is used of “mighty men of valor.” It is a word that belongs to battles and war.

We are in a battle, dear mothers, a battle for the souls and lives of our children. The devil wants them even though God has called them from the womb. We must stand strong against his wiles and deceits. We have no time to be wimpy. We must be mothers of prayer and courage and strength. We will not give into deception. We will not allow the enemy to step his foot in the door of our homes.

I encourage you to conquer. We often face difficulties, challenges, and mountains bigger than us. We can’t conquer in our own strength, but we have the Spirit of the living God dwelling in us. We have His truth (His Word) in our hearts and in our mouths. When battles rage against us, we plead the blood of Jesus and we lift up the powerful name of Jesus and we take our stand. We will not move an inch from the truth. We will not cower to the devices of the enemy. In Christ we are “more than conquerors” (Romans 8:37).

And best of all, no matter what battles you face, God is with you. Moses personally encouraged Joshua with these words: “Be strong and of a good courage . . . And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; HE WILL BE WITH THEE, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed” (Deuteronomy 31:7, 8, 23).

God will never forsake you, no matter what difficulties, challenges, or battles you face.
