GOD SEES FUTURE GENERATIONS

“And as I may so say, Levi . . . paid tithes in Abraham,
For he was yet in the loins of his father,
when Melchisedec met him.”
(Hebrews 7:9, 10).

Isn’t it amazing how we think so differently from the way God thinks? Especially about children coming into the world.

Let me give you a couple of examples from Scripture. The Bible tells us in Genesis 14 of how four kings and their armies came against Sodom and Gomorrah and defeated them. Along with confiscating all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, they also took Abraham’s nephew, Lot, and his family.

Abraham rose up and went out with his home-trained army of 318 men, defeated them, and rescued Lot and his family. On his way home he met Melchisedec, King of Salem and priest of the Most High God, and Abraham gave him tithes of all he had gained.

Then we go over to the New Testament and Hebrews 7:9, 10 tells us that not only Abraham paid tithes to Melchisedec, but his great-grandson! How could that be? He wasn’t even born!

Let’s read it: “And as I may so say, Levi . . . paid tithes in Abraham, For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.” The Passion translation says: “Levi, the ancestor of every Jewish priest who received tithes, actually paid tithes to Melchizedek through Abraham. For although Levi was yet unborn, the seed from which Levi came was present in Abraham.”

God saw Levi, his great-grandson, in his loins, even when he was not a twinkle in Abraham’s eye.

We also read in 2 Samuel 7:12, 13 how God told David that a son who was not yet even thought of by David would come forth from his loins to be the next king.

“And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall PROCEED OUT OF THY BOWELS, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of this kingdom forever.”

The Bible says a seed would come forth from David. God planned for Solomon to be born and build the temple before he was even thought of by David. The word “seed” is “zera” in Hebrew and is a word that is used for sperm as well as for people. In Genesis 46:6, 7 it tells us how Jacob came down from Egypt “and all his seed with him: His sons, and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters, and his son’s daughters, and all his seed brought he with him into Egypt.” These were not little seeds floating down to Egypt but live human beings—sons and daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. All different ages and stages. But they were all called “zera.”

We read about Solomon coming forth in 1 Kings 8:19 too: “Thy son that shall come forth OUT OF THY LOINS, he shall build the house unto my name.” Read also 1 Kings 5:5; 1 Chronicles 17:11, 12; 28:5, 6; Psalm 132:11.

We know that Solomon came forth out of the womb of Bathsheba, but God particularly states that he came forth out of David’s loins. God sees the sperm as a future human being.

But there’s more. God states that even Jesus Christ came forth from the loins of David. Acts 2:30 says: “Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the FRUIT OF HIS LOINS, according to the flesh, he should raise up Christ to sit on his throne.”

God sees future generations before they are born! He has children planned to come into the world. We had better not stop God’s plans. His plans are far greater than our plans.

You know every child whom You have planned to come into the world before they are born. Even before the foundation of the world. Thank Youi, Father.”
