“We taste with our eyes as well as our palate." Isn’t this true? It’s not enough to cook a nourishing meal; we must prepare the table to receive the meal. When a table is laid with a tablecloth and set beautifully, with a candle or "a touch of love" to make it look inviting, the food tastes even better.
"But how do I do this when I have little ones?" you ask. You don't have to do it all. Teach your children how to set the table nicely and creatively. You will be amazed at what they can do. As your children have turns, they will become quite competitive as to who can set it the most attractively and invitingly.
Proverbs 9:1-2 NASB says: "Wisdom has built her house . . . she has prepared her food, she has mixed her wine; she has also SET HER TABLE." It is a wise woman who sets her table, for she knows the blessings that will come from it.
