TRUE SONS OF GOD CALL SIN WHAT IT IS - 18

call sin what it isThe true sons of God will call sin what it is and deal with it in the appropriate manner. It's high time for the church to stand up against evil and sin. Of course, with a true spirit of humility and meekness, considering ourselves lest we also be tempted (Galatians 6:1).

At the same time there is a need for genuine righteous indignation against sin, and yes, let's dare to say it, all sin. Many churches, often large ones, do not want to speak against sin from their pulpits. They do not want to speak about any specific sin even though it is bringing our country into judgment.

Great sin was in Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18:21-20:29). Lot, Abraham's nephew sat in the gate of Sodom (Genesis 19:1). Lot, although a righteous man himself, did not influence these two cities to change their ways, even though he sat in the gate with the elders and leaders. He obviously did not call homosexuality sin. He did not warn them of judgment to come if they did not repent, which resulted in total destruction of these two exceedingly wicked cities.

Noah was a preacher of righteousness and prepared an ark in the midst of great wickedness. He was not afraid to speak out, even though the people rejected his message.

Men, we and our families must not allow nicely dressed liberal pastors to dumb us down to wishy washy doctrine that does not call people to repentance. We must beware of churches that place minimum emphasis on the blood of Jesus Christ, that do not oppose sin, that do not encourage holiness, that do not preach repentance, and that do not preach the cross as God's answer to the self life.

Ezekiel 3:17-19 says, "Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from which wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul."

2 Timothy 4:1-4 says "I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the alive and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."

Each one of us, including all preachers and pastors should take heed to the words of these Scriptures.

To be continued.

Be encouraged.
