EVEN A LITTLE COUNTS
John 6:9: “There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?”
When we look at the great needs of so many in this world who are suffering and being persecuted we could easily become discouraged, throw up our hands, and forget about them. But even if we cannot give much because of our limited funds, we can always give something. Even if it’s only a few dollars. If all Christians would just give something, even when they themselves are struggling financially, we would be surprised what God can do. He can multiply it just like the boy’s little lunch of five barley loaves and two small fishes.
We must give what we can, even if it is just a little. We must also teach our children to be more giving than getting. The little boy gave Jesus all his lunch, but he never went home hungry! How amazing!
To cap pit all off there were twelve baskets over. I am sure they found others along the way to give them to. Ephesians 3:20 says: “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”
Even when we have little to give in the way of money, we can still give our earnest prayers. Your prayers are invaluable. James 5:16 says: “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” God is more than able to meet every need in this entire world, but He has ordained that we should make these needs a matter of prayer. We must teach our children to pray for the great needs of the persecuted people in the world.
Be encouraged.
