TAKE EVERY THOUGHT CAPTIVE
We cannot walk by faith if we allow any willful disobedience to anyone in authority over us. Faith only operates through obedience. Taking every thought captive to obey Christ is a catalyst in spiritual warfare.
It is in our thought life that we win or lose every battle. Proverbs 23:7 says: “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Satan seeks to infiltrate our minds with unbelief, fears, doubts, questions, pride, and rebellious thinking. If we do not resist these thoughts and take them captive to the obedience of Christ, the eventually become strongholds which hold us back from obtaining the victory we seek.
Obedience to every word of Christ is paramount to our success in spiritual warfare. Every parent is blessed if they have compliant and obedient children to their parental authority. How grieving when children choose to be defiant and disobedient.
God speaks through Isaiah the prophet in Isaiah 1:2: “Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.”
In response to their disobedience He continues: “When ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear . . . If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it” (read Isaiah 1:15-20).
Men, we need to take stock of our obedience to Christ. God does not approve of grudging obedience. He wants us to give Him willing obedience.
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 states: “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.”
